What Does Our Drug and Alcohol Rehab in York Do?
We offer fantastic, effective rehab at genuinely affordable prices. Our approach has been built around identifying what works for each individual, formulating a bespoke recovery plan for each of our clients. We only use established professionals with a track record within local rehabilitation, ensuring our clients receive the best service possible. In turn, this increases the chances of success.
Our rehab typically starts with detoxification – in order to cleanse your body of drugs and alcohol and overcome withdrawal symptoms – before introducing any number of rehabilitative interventions to support progression. Talking therapies, lifestyle overhauls, one-to-one key work sessions and day-to-day support and advice are central to what we do. But we know that one size doesn’t fit all – we consider your goals, level of motivation, history of alcohol use and past rehab experiences to lay foundations for real change. Ocean Recovery aims to deliver fast, effective and lasting abstinence from drug use and alcoholism by utilising treatment approaches with a proven track record.
We’re confident you will be impressed with our rehab centres. We pride ourselves on our high-specification, purpose-designed residences that provide relaxing environments that are homely, rather than clinical. Positive, pleasant surroundings encourage reflection and progress and we are confident we provide a perfect balance of research-based addiction treatment programmes and recreational therapy.
A Trusted Rehab Clinic

Ocean was the first step in my journey to recovery. I arrived not knowing I was going in to rehab and absolutely terrified whilst experiencing horrific withdrawals and not knowing where I was. I can’t say enough about how compassionate and caring the team working at Ocean are. I am beyond grateful for the month detox in Ocean and the help the team gave me to find my next step in my recovery journey upon leaving. It really is a safe haven during the vulnerable detox stage and there were plenty of laughs to be had in my four weeks at Ocean. A huge thank you and I will be eternally grateful for all of the support - which continues in aftercare after leaving!Jane O'MahoneySeptember 13, 2023I turned up as possibly the most reluctant guest ever to grace the doors at Blackpool. The patience of those who welcomed me was apparently second to none (although I have no memory). My experience was second to none, staff , brilliant, patient, understanding, wise. I can’t thank them enough for pretty much saving my life. If the staff read this they will know exactly what I have to be grateful for! Thanks you you all.Alexander MelvilleJune 10, 2023The staff are outstanding, genuinely caring and always going above and beyond. Great location and facilities. Highly recommendedGraham WillarsApril 28, 2023Spent 4 weeks at Ocean and it was like a holiday. Food is restaurant standard and its super modern and clean. It cost around 12 grand for 28 days in June 2022. I was an opiate painkiller addict and alcoholic and withdrawal from morphine a few years earlier was like going through a Heroine rattle and so i was very scared of suffering withdrawal. I suffered no pain or discomfort because of the cocktail of medication they gave me to detox. (Librium amongst others) The staff, are professional and know exactly what addicts go through. Every staff member I knew were recovered addicts. Walks on beach every day. Be aware, Caffeine is banned so becareful what you take in. I will admit 28 days without Caffeine was exhausting and painful so I snuck Jars of coffee in every week from the shop. I have bipolar so self medicating with Caffeine relieves the fatigue from low mood. We had a group between 7 to 15 within the month. About 6 people told the rest of us what other high charging centres were like and everyone said Ocean is the best. Your own room, private bathrooms and no indoor cameras. Most other centres watch your every move via a camera surveillance system. Ocean recovery allows mobile phones too. Many don't. Take it from me, this is the best option. Yes its costly. But you get what you pay for. I've been in recovery 9 months and my whole life has changed. Anyway, that's my experienceJody HornerFebruary 27, 2023Hi it is a great place, with brilliant caring staff, who are willing to go the extra mile to help you in your recovery, from helping with your health and well-being to getting and staying sober and relapse prevention. It gives you all the tools you need to help you, emotionally, mentally and physically during your stay and beyond. It provides a setting, where you can concentrate on yourself and your recovery, with great chefs and a great maintenence team all your needs are taken carelesving you free not to worry about a thing.jacko jacksonJanuary 30, 2023BrilliantMilly NoxJanuary 30, 2023
Can Drug and Alcohol Rehab Make Me Change?
Addiction is complex and can be extremely difficult to overcome, as anyone with a longstanding drug or alcohol problem will testify. We advocate a multi-faceted approach to tackling substance related difficulties, helping to ensure you can find a solution that suits your needs. We can provide quality treatment that has the potential to assist you in your journey to recovery, but an initial desire to change is an essential starting point. It is for this reason that we prioritise establishing and maintaining high levels of motivation. Positive thinking and forward planning are favoured as the basis for all the work we undertake, as we understand that keeping you full of optimism leads to better, longer lasting results.
If you are ready to make that initial commitment to us, we will provide you with all the tools you need to succeed. Unfortunately, no rehab programme can guarantee success in the long term, but we provide options for post-rehab aftercare programmes that are designed to provide an additional layer of support, guidance and motivation as you adopt your new, drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.
Is Rehab Dangerous?
We have a fantastic track record for safe, effective drug and alcohol treatment. Detoxification from alcohol can be extremely dangerous if undertaken in the wrong way, but when managed as part of a professional withdrawal programme, the risks can be minimised significantly. Taking a ‘cold turkey’ approach to detoxification, or using home remedies and short-term fixes for alcohol withdrawal can lead to serious health repercussions and even death in extreme cases. For that reason, we would always urge dependent alcohol users to seek professional advice and support before they take action.
Binge drinkers are less likely to face the risks that are posed to dependent drinkers during detoxification, due to the fact binge drinkers’ bodies are unlikely to have developed a physiological dependency on drugs/alcohol. Symptoms indicative of a physiological addiction often emerge after six to nine hours without a drink. Typical alcohol withdrawal symptoms include shaky hands, paranoia and anxiety, headaches, insomnia, hot flushes and excessive sweating. These are easily recognisable and are relatively easily managed. More serious issues arise as withdrawal continues. Hallucinations, seizures and delirium tremens – otherwise known as DTs – are all potential problems. Fortunately, with the right treatment, support and medical know how, Alcohol Rehab York can provide a seamless and reassuring path to recovery.
