Funded Drug and Alcohol Rehab Treatment and Referrals
We provide residential drug and alcohol treatment for adults aged 18 and over from across the UK. Any referrals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as clinical suitability, detox requirements and treatment needs.
What Is Funded Addiction Treatment?
Funded rehab treatment means that some people may be able to access residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation without paying the full cost of a programme out of their own pocket.
In circumstances like these, treatment may be funded by a statutory organisation, like a local council or the NHS, or another referring body.
Funded drug and alcohol treatment is not available to everyone and is not wholly dependent on clinical suitability. The funding approval and referral processes are separate, being evaluated apart from other considerations.
Who Can Be Referred to Ocean Recovery Centre?
As stated above, Ocean Recovery treats adults who require residential drug or alcohol treatment. Based in Blackpool, we treat people from all over the UK.
Potential rehab referrals will be appropriate for people who need:
- A medically supported detoxification due to severe withdrawal
- Structured residential rehabilitation
- Comprehensive psychological addiction treatment
- Relapse-prevention work
- Recovery and discharge planning for support when they leave rehab
- A structured environment away from active substance use, allowing clients to focus on recovery
Ocean Recovery is a trusted CQC-registered treatment provider, providing care that meets the required standard in the country.
Who Can Make a Referral?
There are many ways for someone to get the help they need. Possible routes to funded addiction treatment include:
- Self-referral – If you intend to privately pay for care, you can contact Ocean Recovery yourself.
- Professional referral – If you are an employer, you can contact a treatment centre about an employee when you are concerned for them.
- Referrals by health or social-care professionals – A doctor, addiction specialist or social worker can go through a formal process of helping someone get admitted to a treatment centre.
- Family referral – Family members or close friends can contact Ocean Recovery and talk about admission and get the support they need. Ultimately, the consent of the loved one is needed to move forward with an assessment and get them treatment.
How the Referral Process Works
We aim to make drug and alcohol rehab referrals as straightforward as possible so that people struggling can get the help they need.
Initial Referral or Enquiry
You can contact the admissions/referral team with a phone call. During this initial call, you can give us the basic information about treatment needs, in particular telling us about current substance use and risks.
There will also be a discussion about the funding referral route.
Clinical Assessment
When the person arrives, an assessment is performed to help inform the treatment plan. Our staff will consider current and historical substance use, physical and psychological health, medication, detoxification requirements and associated risks.
Treatment Planning
From this comprehensive assessment, a personalised care plan is developed within 24–48 hours of admission. The treatment and path ahead are adapted to suit the needs and goals of each individual.
Detox will be required if clinically necessary, and therapies are selected based on how effective they could be in supporting recovery efforts.
Ongoing Reviews and Communication
Nothing is set in stone, and we adopt a fluid treatment approach.
Weekly multidisciplinary reviews will take place to monitor risk and progress and update care plans as needed. Discharge planning will happen to help prepare clients for leaving. With permission, the team will liaise with referring professionals and relevant services to coordinate ongoing support for when treatment is completed.
What Treatment Can a Referral Include?
A referral to Ocean Recovery can mean you access our comprehensive approach to treatment.
Medically Supported Detox
If you are at risk of experiencing severe withdrawal and physically dependent on a substance, you’ll go through a detox programme. This can involve you being given medication to help manage severe withdrawal symptoms and ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
Psychological Therapies
We offer a range of evidence-based and wellbeing therapies to help our clients get to the deeper issues of their addictions and learn healthier coping strategies.
Some of the psychological therapies available at Ocean Recovery are:
- CBT-informed workshops
- Psychoeducation
- Addiction counselling
- HRV sessions
- Trauma-informed care
- DBT
- Schema Therapy
Aftercare
We’ll help you prepare for life after rehab by working with you on a recovery plan, determining achievable goals and making you ready in case a relapse is possible. We offer 12 months of free aftercare in the form of weekly support group meetings, supporting the building of a network you can rely on beyond our staff.
We also encourage connecting with local resources such as NA and AA during your time in rehab, so you’re familiar with them before you leave.
Discharge Planning and Continuity of Care
Everyone who comes to Ocean Recovery will receive personalised discharge planning. If they need it, we can help people connect with sober living or secondary housing so that no one is left in the lurch when they complete treatment.
Housing is an important factor in people achieving better recovery outcomes, as 1 in 5 of those in addiction treatment last year had no home of their own.
We’ll help those before they leave connect with community support and encourage them to attend fellowship meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Discharge planning is tailored to each person, coordinating ongoing care and community resources to ensure continuity and reduce relapse risk.
