Clients are encouraged to attend therapy and counselling services to address the psychological effects of substance drug and/or alcohol addiction. Ocean Recovery employs an in-house team of therapists who aim to treat the mental aspect of substance addiction and provide patients with coping mechanisms and ways to fight relapse following the completion of rehab. It is an important aspect of the recovery process and is necessary to provide patients with the tools needed to stay sober.
Ocean Recovery offers a wide range of therapies designed to make sure patients achieve their recovery goals. Therapy options include one-to-one therapy, group therapy, and family/couples therapy dependent on each client’s unique needs and requirements. Therapy techniques are tailored to each individual as different methods of therapy work well for different types of patients.
Therapy helps each client gain an understanding of their addiction and prepares the person to work through the addiction, help achieve personal recovery goals and provides each client with freedom from alcohol and drug addiction. The team at Ocean Recovery Centre combine advice, education and guidance into therapy sessions to benefit the client’s mind, body and soul.
Alternative therapies can be available at an additional cost and upon request. Contact the clinic on 01253 847 553 to find out more.
Psychological Therapies
Psychological therapies are sometimes referred to as ‘talking therapies’. They involve exploring the psychological difficulties that are getting in the way of how we would like to feel and are typically used for mental and emotional problems such as depression, stress, and anxiety, all of which fall under the umbrella of addiction.
All types of psychological therapies involve a trained therapist to help the patient understand the problems that they are experiencing and provide the tools needed to cope with them. Each client is monitored and taught strategies to address their mental health problems.

- Relaxation & Sleep Management Therapy
- Acupuncture & Acu-Detox

Holistic Therapies
Ocean Therapy also offer Holistic Therapies which are available upon request at an additional cost. These therapeutic techniques involve applying different amounts of pressure to different body parts such as the feet and hands to relieve tension and reduce stress and anxiety. These holistic methods are reported to improve general wellbeing and relax the body. Options available upon request at Ocean Recovery include:
- Massage
- Reflexology
The combination of these therapies is extremely important and will help recovery. The addiction sufferer will be required to engage in the core aspects of the programme to ensure recovery. Each therapy will be discussed during a pre-admission assessment. The intensity and choice of therapy method can vary depending on the programme.
Social Activities
Social activities are a key element to recovery and general wellbeing. Sharing experiences and talking about personal journeys with others who are experiencing similar problems can encourage clients to persevere with rehab treatment. At Ocean Recovery engagement in social activities are encouraged, including some of the below:
- Daily Group Walks or Beach Runs
- Leisure & Group Outings
- Quiz Nights, Team Games & Film Nights
- Fellowship Events
- Family Visits
Keeping active and maintaining social interactions during rehab treatment is an incredibly important part of recovery. Addiction can often be isolating so it is a necessary step to reintegrate with people and to bond with others who have shared similar experiences. Social exclusion which has resulted from drug addiction can make leaving rehab a daunting process which is why social interactions are encouraged during every clients stay.
