Types Of Anxiety

• Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Generalised Anxiety Disorder is characterised by a state of worry and/or fear felt on a daily basis. Patients suffering from GAD are likely to always feel on edge.

• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is characterised by an ongoing state of anxiety relating to a post-traumatic event, for example, a car accident or military combat duty.

• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Irrational beliefs characterise Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. These beliefs typically relate to cleanliness and contamination. Sadly, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder consumes a significant proportion of an individual’s life. Those struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder often find themselves unable to work or concentrate on simple tasks.

• Phobias

As outlined by the NHS, phobias are characterised by overwhelming fears of objects, situations, animals, and locations. Common phobias include fear of flying, spiders, heights, insects, small spaces and being alone.

• Panic Disorder

Panic disorders cause individuals to experience frequent panic attacks and extreme fear. When placed under extreme stress, those struggling with a panic disorder will feel as though they are unable to cope and, as a result, are at risk of having a panic attack.

Anxiety Treatment Available At Ocean Recovery Centre

Although individuals living with anxiety may not realise it, there is a wealth of anxiety treatment available to help alleviate the ramifications that the anxiety disorders discussed above have.

At Ocean Recovery Centre, we provide anxiety treatment to those in need through the employment of anxiety treatment programmes. As and when those struggling with anxiety enter our facility, a full physical and psychological assessment is carried out by a qualified member of staff.

This assessment will enable our team to determine the exact nature of an individual’s anxiety and the existence of possible co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse.

Based on the results of an individual’s assessment, our team creates and provides patients with a highly structured anxiety treatment programme. Although this treatment programme will be bespoke to each individual’s needs, our anxiety treatment programmes typically comprise of various forms of therapy.

Although many fear therapy due to the common stigmas surrounding it, psychological and well-being therapy will ultimately help those struggling with anxiety to uncover the underlying issues that have caused their anxiety to arise.

In doing so, they will have the ability to devise various coping strategies that will alleviate the pessimistic thoughts and feelings widely associated with anxiety.

While the therapy encountered throughout anxiety treatment will be dependent upon the assessment conducted as an individual admits themselves to our centre, psychological and well-being therapies are typically encountered.

Taking place in group and individual settings, these therapies are designed to help clients overcome stress and anxiety that arises in everyday life.

An example of the therapy provided throughout anxiety treatment is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT as it is otherwise known, aims to identify thoughts and emotions experienced as anxiety controls an individual’s every waking moment. Patients are taught how to change the thoughts and feelings they encounter, which ultimately mitigates the consequences of anxiety.

If it is required, at Ocean Recovery Centre, we also prescribe anti-anxiety medications such as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI).

At Ocean Recovery, we offer several rehab treatment programmes to individuals that are suffering from anxiety and other mental health disorders.

Although the programmes we provide are entirely bespoke to each individual’s needs, rehabilitation for anxiety typically consists of a ten-day to a four-week rehab treatment programme.
