Treatments for addictive substances
At Ocean Recovery Centre, our treatment centres offer state-of-the art addiction rehabilitation programmes that are both holistic and client-centred, featuring evidence-based physical, psychological, and well-being therapies.
We make use of a variety of different treatment techniques such as drug and alcohol medical detox, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, stress management, psychotherapy and holistic therapies which include mindfulness, yoga, relaxation and sleep management, low level laser therapy, art therapy, fitness therapy, and nutrition therapy.
This mixture of therapies provides you with a well-balanced approach to recovery from substance abuse, giving you the best opportunity to address your physical and psychological connections to drugs or alcohol.
Before your addiction treatment begins, you must start the process by contacting our friendly admissions team. When you contact us, we carry out a substance abuse evaluation to determine how we can best meet your needs.
We may work with a variety of agencies and professionals such as your GP, Primary Care Trust, Social Services, and the Courts to ensure you receive the very best rehab programme which is tailored to you.
At our drug and alcohol rehab in Cumbria, we treat a range of addictions, including drug addiction, behavioural addictions and alcohol addiction.
You will be welcomed into our treatment centre with open arms as you go through an induction process to help you become familiarised with your surroundings and comfortable in your private room within our rehab clinic.
Once you’re settled, you can begin your treatment programme which will typically begin with a medical detox.
What is a Medical Detox?
A medical detox is the process of gradually reducing your consumption of drugs or alcohol in a safe and controlled way.
It’s crucial that you undergo a drug and alcohol detox under the supervision of a professional team of addiction specialists, otherwise you’d be leaving yourself at high risk of experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms such as seizures, insomnia, and even delirium tremens (the DT’s).
Without the expertise of a medical team on hand, you could cause irreversible physical and psychological damage; this lack of professional support could even result in a fatality.
Whilst we understand how uncomfortable a medical detox can be, we wouldn’t recommend it if it weren’t so highly regarded as an extremely effective method to cleanse your body and mind of harmful toxins caused by drug or alcohol addiction.
This is why we include it within the majority of our bespoke addiction rehab programmes.
How can our services help you?
At Ocean Recovery Centre, we truly prioritise your needs over all others. You will receive a psychological and physical assessment conducted by a doctor. Following this, you will begin a fully tailored treatment programme.
This doctor will also prescribe you with a range of herbal and medicinal medications designed to ease withdrawal symptoms you may experience during the initial detoxification process.
Our rehab clinic is classified as a medical treatment facility. We are audited and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We employ a multi-disciplinary team of addiction workers and support workers.
Joining a residential rehab like ours in Cumbria, gives you the best opportunity to detach yourself from any distractions and negative influences of homelife.
By staying with us throughout the duration of your treatment, you’ll benefit from a recovery focused, positive environment where you can share your experiences with people in a similar position to you.
You’ll have the added advantage of 24/7 support from a dedicated team of addiction specialists who are there to help you every step of the way as you work towards your long-term recovery.
QCQ Registered
Staying in a CQC (Care Quality Commission) registered rehab such as Ocean Recovery provides several advantages to individuals seeking rehabilitation services. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator for health and social care in England, and its registration signifies a certain standard of care, safety, and quality.
One of the primary benefits of staying in our CQC-registered rehab is the assurance of quality care. The CQC has rigorous standards that establishments must meet, and they regularly inspect facilities to ensure that these standards are upheld.
CQC registered rehabs such as ours adhere to stringent guidelines regarding patient safety, protection from harm, and the overall welfare of individuals in their care. This ensures that the physical infrastructure of the facility, including equipment and amenities, is up to date and maintained to the highest standards.
Additionally, choosing a CQC registered rehab provides transparency and accountability. The CQC makes our inspection report available so potential patients or their families can review the performance and track record of a rehab facility before making a decision.
Furthermore, staying in our CQC registered rehab ensures a holistic and patient-centred approach to care. The CQC emphasizes the importance of treating patients with dignity and respect, catering to their individual needs, and involving them in decisions about their care. This means that you can expect a tailored treatment plan that considers their unique circumstances, preferences, and goals.
What Aftercare support do we provide?
Our team work closely together to ensure your needs are well met whilst you are in our care. This applies from the minute you arrive in our facility until the moment you leave.
In fact, we even go some way to ensuring your recovery is not put in danger once you leave our care by offering you a fantastic 12-month aftercare package. Aftercare is provided to each client, no matter how long you stay in our care and is completely free of charge.
Following the completion of a medical detox as part of your treatment programme, you will begin to ease into the therapeutic portion of rehabilitation.
You will take part in daily counselling and therapy sessions to ensure the mental aspect of your addiction receives sufficient attention.
You take part in both group and individual therapy sessions during this time. You will also receive education about the risks and damage caused by drug or alcohol addiction which you can put into practice upon your return home alongside the tools you’ve learnt around drug and alcohol relapse prevention.

Ocean was the first step in my journey to recovery. I arrived not knowing I was going in to rehab and absolutely terrified whilst experiencing horrific withdrawals and not knowing where I was. I can’t say enough about how compassionate and caring the team working at Ocean are. I am beyond grateful for the month detox in Ocean and the help the team gave me to find my next step in my recovery journey upon leaving. It really is a safe haven during the vulnerable detox stage and there were plenty of laughs to be had in my four weeks at Ocean. A huge thank you and I will be eternally grateful for all of the support - which continues in aftercare after leaving!Jane O'MahoneySeptember 13, 2023I turned up as possibly the most reluctant guest ever to grace the doors at Blackpool. The patience of those who welcomed me was apparently second to none (although I have no memory). My experience was second to none, staff , brilliant, patient, understanding, wise. I can’t thank them enough for pretty much saving my life. If the staff read this they will know exactly what I have to be grateful for! Thanks you you all.Alexander MelvilleJune 10, 2023The staff are outstanding, genuinely caring and always going above and beyond. Great location and facilities. Highly recommendedGraham WillarsApril 28, 2023Spent 4 weeks at Ocean and it was like a holiday. Food is restaurant standard and its super modern and clean. It cost around 12 grand for 28 days in June 2022. I was an opiate painkiller addict and alcoholic and withdrawal from morphine a few years earlier was like going through a Heroine rattle and so i was very scared of suffering withdrawal. I suffered no pain or discomfort because of the cocktail of medication they gave me to detox. (Librium amongst others) The staff, are professional and know exactly what addicts go through. Every staff member I knew were recovered addicts. Walks on beach every day. Be aware, Caffeine is banned so becareful what you take in. I will admit 28 days without Caffeine was exhausting and painful so I snuck Jars of coffee in every week from the shop. I have bipolar so self medicating with Caffeine relieves the fatigue from low mood. We had a group between 7 to 15 within the month. About 6 people told the rest of us what other high charging centres were like and everyone said Ocean is the best. Your own room, private bathrooms and no indoor cameras. Most other centres watch your every move via a camera surveillance system. Ocean recovery allows mobile phones too. Many don't. Take it from me, this is the best option. Yes its costly. But you get what you pay for. I've been in recovery 9 months and my whole life has changed. Anyway, that's my experienceJody HornerFebruary 27, 2023Hi it is a great place, with brilliant caring staff, who are willing to go the extra mile to help you in your recovery, from helping with your health and well-being to getting and staying sober and relapse prevention. It gives you all the tools you need to help you, emotionally, mentally and physically during your stay and beyond. It provides a setting, where you can concentrate on yourself and your recovery, with great chefs and a great maintenence team all your needs are taken carelesving you free not to worry about a thing.jacko jacksonJanuary 30, 2023BrilliantMilly NoxJanuary 30, 2023
