What to expect from rehab
You may think that drug and alcohol rehab in Hemel Hempstead will be clinical and feel more like a prison, however, you couldn’t be further from the truth. At Ocean Recovery our facilities are luxurious and homely, making you feel welcome and comfortable throughout your stay.
Our rehabilitation centre provides residential rehab, which means that you’ll live onsite throughout the duration of your rehabilitation. Outpatient treatment, in contrast, can be undertaken whilst you’re living at home. However, we find that most of our patients benefit from some time away from their daily life to focus on their own recovery and well-being.
Since our centres provide private drug and alcohol rehab, there is a cost attached to the service, but this means we can offer urgent treatment and can provide a more luxurious setting, with a range of traditional and holistic, evidence-based treatments.
Our centre is based on the restorative coast of Blackpool, providing a tranquil setting ideal for healing both mind and body. Upon arrival at our centre you’ll undergo a full medical assessment to enable our medical professionals to determine your physical and psychological health. After this assessment, we’ll work with you to develop a personalised treatment programme for your 28 day stay.
Detoxification
Since addiction exerts a powerful influence on your brain, it’s important that every treatment programme begins with detoxification. In order to develop coping strategies to maintain sobriety you have to first rid your body of the addictive substance so you can think more clearly, without its influence.
Detox usually lasts a couple of days and its highly likely you’ll experience some forms of withdrawal symptoms during this process. Our medical team will work with you, supervising you 24/7, to slowly reduce your levels of consumption until your body is clear from the substance.
The withdrawal symptoms arise as your body responds to the diminishing levels of the drugs or alcohol and has to find a new equilibrium without the substance. The symptoms you experience will be determined by the length and severity of your own addiction, but our medical team are on hand to guide you through every step of the way.
Therapies
The most common form of therapy to treat addiction is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
CBT helps you to identify the root causes of your addiction and through psychoeducation this therapy helps you to change your current, negative behavioural patterns that drive your addiction, to develop more positive thought processes.
You’ll learn coping strategies to help you manage cravings in day to day life and maintain your sobriety.
Since successful long term recovery is linked to self-care, we provide our patients with holistic therapy options and activities during their stay. These include the following:
- Stress Management
- Bereavement Counselling
- Family Therapy
- Medication Therapy
- Art, Music and Drama Therapies
- Relaxation and Sleep Management
- Mindfulness
- Diet and Nutritional Therapy
- Walks
- Beach runs
- Group outings
- Movie Nights
- Quiz nights
- Family visits
Support After Rehab
We understand that your journey doesn’t end when you leave our centre and the first twelve months of recovery are the most challenging, which is why we provide 12 months of free aftercare to all of our patients.
In order to help you develop a support network, we’ll help you forge links with your local support groups, where you’ll find individuals with similar experiences to your own.
Peer support is extremely important as part of your relapse prevention, so it’s essential that you actively take part in these groups and ask for help when you feel like you need it.
If you find that rebuilding your relationships is becoming a challenge, we can work with you and your family to help you overcome any difficulties. Remember, recovery is a long process and you’ll need to be patient with yourself and others around you.
We can also provide guidance and support to get you back into work and even find a new home, if this is something you need when you leave our centre. All you have to do is contact us today to kick start your journey to long term recovery.
