Although our admissions team is on hand to answer any questions you have in order to help you prepare for your rehab treatment, you may be left wondering what to bring to rehab.

If this resonates with you, we have outlined what to bring to rehab here.

Clothing Items

During your residential rehab stay, you will be encouraged to engage in a range of activities, including group work, one to one therapy and some physical activities such as walking.  Considering this, it is essential that you feel as comfortable and at ease in your clothing as you can.

Personal Items

At Ocean Recovery Centre, we understand that as you enter our rehab and temporarily leave your loved ones behind, you may feel somewhat homesick at times.  To ensure that your stay in our rehab is as pleasant as possible, we welcome you to bring several personal items from home with you.

Below, we have outlined the personal items that our patients often bring to rehab with them.

  • Pictures of family members
  • Pictures of friends
  • Reading material such as books and magazines
  • Musical instruments
  • Jewellery
  • An alarm clock
  • Notebook
  • Journal

In addition to the above, you can also bring the following electronic devices to rehab;

  • Mobile phones
  • Tablets
  • Laptops

At Ocean Recovery Centre, we offer free Wi-Fi access to all of our patients during their stay in rehab.  However, it should be noted that you will typically only have access to your electronic devices upon completing your daily treatments such as therapy.  We also welcome you to bring your own personal gaming machines, or other devices too.

As we regularly visit the local town, we also welcome you to bring a small amount of cash and a bank card with you to our centre.  This will enable you to buy small treats and gifts for loved ones.  It should be noted that the purchase of alcohol or medication is strictly prohibited during your stay at our centre.

Personal Hygiene Items

At Ocean Recovery Centre, we provide complimentary toiletries to all of our patients, all of which are regularly re-stocked.

However, if you wish to bring personal hygiene items from home, we do welcome you to do so.

Below, we have listed a number of personal hygiene items that we welcome you to bring to rehab.

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Alcohol-free mouthwash
  • Shower gel
  • Soap
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Alcohol-free skincare products
  • Make-up
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Hairbrush

In addition to providing toiletries, we will also supply you with towels, bed linen and bathrobes.  However, if you would prefer to bring your own towels, bed linen and bathrobes, we welcome you to do so.

It should be noted that your toiletries must not contain any traces of alcohol.  As a drug and alcohol-free centre, as you enter our facility, we will check any liquids to ensure that alcohol does not enter our rehab.

Unfortunately, if any of your products contain alcohol, we will have to remove this from our premises for the safety of our patients.

Painkillers and Prescribed Medications

If you are currently in receipt of any prescribed medication for a medical condition by your general practitioner or medical specialist, you should ensure that you make our admissions team aware of this.

We will likely require you to hand over any medication as you enter our rehab, but please be assured that we will provide you with the necessary medicines as and when it is needed.

Although you may not like the thought of doing this, this is in our patients’ best interest.  Many of the addictions we treat include prescription drug addictions and drug addictions.

It should also be noted that any medication for your detoxification and treatments during your rehabilitation programme will be supplied by our own team of doctors and pharmacy.

What Not to Bring To Rehab

Although we allow patients to bring various items from the home to make their stay in our residential rehab easier, it should be noted that the following items are prohibited from our facility;

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Medications that have not been authorised
  • Products that contain alcohol
  • Weapons
  • Food or drinks from home

If you are found to be in possession of any of the above-prohibited items upon entering our rehab centre, you may be asked to leave our centre, and your treatment will be terminated.
