A Few Words From Our Doctor…..
“The current COVID-19 pandemic is a very stressful and frightening time for many individuals throughout the UK, with those suffering from addiction being in a particularly vulnerable position during this period of uncertainty.
This is why we have done everything possible to ensure that our clinics can be open throughout the pandemic so vulnerable individuals who need require rehab can still access our treatment and receive the help they desperately need.
To make sure that our clinics can still run effectively and provide all the necessary treatments and care we have introduced several new measures in line with CQC recommendations that we believe will help us best control the virus and vastly reduce any risks of it spreading within our clinics.
Addiction prevalence is not going to slow down during this period, with recent research suggesting that the problem will only get worse during the lockdown. This is why we remain fully committed to making our service readily available to anyone who needs it.“
How to Avoid The Virus
Since coronavirus is spread from person to person through respiratory droplets and bodily fluids, you should follow standard sanitary procedures to avoid spreading or contracting COVID-19, including:
- Washing your hands regularly with soap and water
- Sanitize your hands
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing
- Avoiding close contact with anyone who shows symptoms
- Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

Start your Recovery - Call us nowWhat Safety Precautions Have We Taken?
We understand that the current situation in the United Kingdom is very uncertain and we just wanted to let all our clients know that we remain fully committed to giving access to our essential addiction treatment service throughout these difficult times.
The team at Ocean Recovery are monitoring the situation on a day to day basis and have implemented the necessary safety measures recommended by Public Health England and the Care Quality Commission.
This commitment ensures that new clients will still be able to access our treatment and we can continue to provide urgent help to those in need of our service.
Some of the key measures we are now undertaking to improve safety includes:
- Additional screening upon pre-admission, any new clients will be evaluated individually to check for any COVID-19 symptoms and possible exposure i.e. from a family member/friend or by travelling to a country with high infection rates.
- Along with the above measures we have also implemented daily checks to both staff and clients for COVID-19 symptoms.
- We are ensuring that all strict guidelines set daily by the CQC and Public Health England are immediately implemented, this includes temporarily prohibiting all group sessions, visits from family members and aftercare.
- To help prevent and control infections we have increased the level of sanitisation and hygiene throughout the clinic.
- None of our staff will be able to travel abroad for the foreseeable future due to the potential risks of spreading the virus.
- Employees who are not involved in direct care are currently working from home.
Should COVID-19 Prevent You from Going to Rehab?
With much of the country paralysed by COVID-19 fears, you might think that you should postpone or cancel rehab for alcohol or drug addiction until the crisis subsides.
However, this could be potentially damaging to your health as staying home with little to no social interactions has proven to increase the risk of developing mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety which can increase addictive behaviours.
The measures we are taking have been put in place to ensure that you are as safe as possible during your stay with us and we would urge that you put your trust in the hands of our trained care professionals.
If you are struggling with addiction, you still need help. As always, overcoming addiction could make the difference between life and death, and there is no evidence that rehab facilities are more likely to host COVID-19 outbreaks than any other place.
We are taking every precaution and we have rigid processes in place to minimise the risk of infection and spread.
Please contact one of our dedicated treatment specialists today to learn more about your options for rehab and get answers to your questions about recovery.
COVID-19 and Mental Health
During these uncertain times, many people’s mental health may be suffering. Staying at home with little or no social interaction may heighten feelings of sadness and anxiety.
Research has shown that adults who are living alone often suffer from common mental disorders, including anxiety and depression. However, this survey does not only include the elderly but people of all ages, more than 20,000 participants.
Making sure you take care of your mind as well as your body is really important if you are staying at home because of coronavirus.
Here at Ocean Recovery we offer a range of mental health treatment options. Following an initial assessment, mental health clients have the option to a variety of different yet overlapping therapy techniques. These techniques include psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and a range of ‘holistic therapies’.
