After deciding that you need professional help comes the decision about how you get that help. There are many options available to you in Westhoughton, so there is no need to feel overwhelmed by the situation.
Talk to Your Local GP

Outpatient Treatment in Westhoughton
Most of the drug and alcohol services available via the NHS will be outpatient treatment. This is when you do treatment around your normal routine, allowing you to stay at home. This type of treatment will suit you if your addiction is only mild.
Unfortunately, the NHS is overwhelmed at the moment so there could be a long waiting list, meaning you can’t get the help you need for a while.
If you are looking for support meetings then you find a local NA or AA session to go to.

Is it Worth Travelling for Rehab?
Travelling outside of Westhoughton for treatment may be a scary thought but it can help you. A drug and alcohol rehab like Ocean Recovery holds many benefits that services close by can’t offer you.
A New and Safe Environment
Rehab away from your home allows you to undergo treatment in a place free of temptations. Without access to drugs and alcohol, you are much more likely to focus on your treatment. The environment you are leaving may not be good for your recovery so it helps to break away from a destructive cycle and potential enablers.
Treatment Options
The range of treatments available via private rehabs is much more than you could get on an outpatient basis. Comprehensive drug and alcohol detox programmes, a wide range of therapies and free aftercare are all part of your personalised treatment plan.
What Happens in Rehab?
At Ocean Recovery you aim to deal with both the physical and psychological sides of addiction – giving you the best chance at achieving your recovery goals.
Detox
Your first stop with us is undergoing detox. You will stay in a designated detox room for the duration whilst taking part in the rest of the programme. The severity of withdrawal symptoms will be scored using CiWA-Ar and we will also monitor blood pressure and pulse and make general observations. Medication may be used to ease your symptoms if they are really bad.
If you are detoxing from alcohol then Librium or Chlordiazepoxide may be used. If you are addicted to something like cocaine, then your drug detox may involve you taking Diazepam to help you through.
Therapies
Our therapies consist of individual, group and well-being sessions. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Addiction Counselling are key to helping you understand your addiction and the negative thought patterns that have led you to it. Through talk therapy and CBT-based group sessions, you will hopefully help change negative feelings and responses into something more positive.
Well-being sessions such as yoga and mindfulness walks are there to improve your mental health and provide moments of calm in a stressful period of your life.
Addictions We Treat
Our primary focus at Ocean Recovery is people suffering from alcoholism. We do also help those with drug addiction, including people addicted to prescription drugs such as Codeine.
As our focus is on substance misuse, we do not specifically treat eating disorders. If you suffer from other existing mental health issues then we will make sure that our treatment doesn’t negatively affect them.
How Long Do You Have to Stay in Rehab?
To complete a comprehensive treatment programme, you should stay for at least 28 days. This amount of time gives you the chance to physically end your dependence on substances through detoxing. In this period, you should also have learnt enough about your addiction and coping techniques to limit the chance of relapsing quickly after leaving.
Recovery After Rehab
During your time with us, there would have been some focus on relapse prevention.
Completing rehab doesn’t guarantee success, so it is important to stay on top of your recovery. Many people relapse soon after rehab and this is why we offer aftercare.
With our aftercare specialists, you will create an aftercare plan that includes realistic goals and milestones for you to celebrate so that you can see the progress you are making. We also offer twice-weekly group support meetings that you can attend physically or dial into via Zoom.
