Drug and Alcohol Treatment in Oldham
Here at Ocean Recovery, we help people in Oldham find their way into our local rehab centre or find a way into one of the local outpatient clinics that treat drug and alcohol addictions.
If you wish to start treatment imminently, you can give our team a call at 01253 847 553, and we can have you visit our rehab centre. Here, you will stay as a resident and complete a full drug and alcohol rehabilitation programme.
Beyond that, you can also reach out to community resources and find help through your GP in a variety of outpatient clinics. As an outpatient, you will be placed on a less intensive programme and attempt to make a recovery at home with the support of community resources, friends and family.
Residential Drug and Alcohol Treatment
At Ocean Recovery, we operate a dedicated drug and alcohol rehab service where you will stay from 7 to 28 days to complete your rehabilitation programme.
Each person will go through a similar process, but each rehab programme is tailored to their specific needs. To break it down simply, you will go through:
1. Admission
2. Detox
3. Therapy
Admission
Once you arrive at Ocean Recovery, you will have a full health check by one of our onsite GPs. If you are taking any current medications or have any health issues beyond addiction, you will have a chance to discuss them, and we can also prescribe medications onsite.
Next, you will have an interview with our resident psychiatrist, who will develop a rehabilitation programme based on your physical and mental state.
Detox
After you have been admitted and shown all the facilities, you will begin the rehabilitation process on the detox wing. One of the advantages of staying in a rehab clinic rather than doing detox as an outpatient is that you will receive prescription medication onsite, which can make withdrawal symptoms easier to deal with.
You will have the help and support of our nurser and counsellors when you go through a detox, which is usually accompanied by a variety of withdrawal symptoms, depending on your condition.
Therapy
While you stay with us, you’ll go through intensive therapy, both as an individual and in groups with your fellow patients. This helps you discover the causes of your addiction, and gives you relapse-prevention techniques that you can use once you leave rehab.
Therapy is really key in making the breakthrough that will help you overcome addiction in the long term. Our therapists will work with you as you break your physical addiction and therapy will help break the mental urge to use drugs or drink.

Choosing the Right Rehab in Oldham
While you may think you can beat a drug and alcohol addiction at home, the truth is that most people need some sort of help to overcome this disease. By taking 28 days to undergo a programme at a treatment centre, it’s much more likely that you’ll get sober and stay sober in the long term. However, it’s important to find a clinic that meets your needs.
At the Ocean Recovery Centre, we work hard to ensure you get the right treatment that works for you. Our treatment service includes both traditional and holistic options, which gives you the best chance of success.
You may be wondering whether this type of drug or alcohol rehab is right for you, and we’re always happy to discuss your needs and treatment further. We can carry out an initial assessment over the phone, and if you decide you want to be admitted, we take care of all the arrangements including transport, so you can get into treatment as quickly as possible.
You can also choose from outpatient services in the Oldham area if you do not wish to spend time away at a rehab centre. These consist of outpatient services and charities; your local GP will also be able to provide you with any local initiatives at this time.
Here are some of the local resources that can help you with addiction in the Oldham area.

Oldham Council Drug Services
The local Oldham council also has some drop in services you can reach out to. These typically involve accessing outpatient services where you will detox at home and visit local establishments for therapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
These can be a good choice if you have work or family commitments and can not afford to take the time out in a residential facility. However, the chances of relapse can be greater as you will still be surrounded by the same triggers day to day.
If you only have a mild addiction, outpatient services are appropriate for many people; if you have a serious longstanding addiction, it would be recommended that you seek a residential rehab centre.
Next Steps in Your Recovery
When you look for drug and alcohol rehab in Oldham, you’re often only thinking in terms of the next few days, but we like to look forwards to your long-term recovery. Rehab centres are a calm, stress-free environment, but once you leave you will need to learn to deal with stress out in the real world.
That’s why, when you complete a 28-day programme with us, we’ll offer you a year of free aftercare. This is the time when you’re most likely to go through a relapse, so we highly recommend you attend these sessions. We might also recommend organisations in Greater Manchester who can help you stay sober post-rehab and give you further advice and help.
If you feel it’s time to get off alcohol and drugs and start living your life again, call the Ocean Recovery Centre today. Call us on 01253 847 553 or text HELP to 83222 to find out more.
